This month’s inspiration by Ashlea Cornell is a challenge that pulls in a unique color palette, as well as some great shapes to work with.
This is a a great inspiration photo to work from. I loved both the simplicity and the vintage look and feel this picture evokes. There are some great shapes in this collection of items like the pitcher, the bowls, and the wreath of course. I love the color of the wreath here, but I am drawn first to the brown hues in the photo, so that was my starting point.
I made my background with a dark brown cardstock, and used the Mandala Die from Altenew to create a bold layer of interest for my card. I used the Rouge and Blush Crisp Dye Inks on the die cut Mandala leaving some of the areas less inked than others to pick up on the “vintage” look of the inspirational photo. This helped me bring in those round shapes from the photo as well. I trimmed the Mandala to the size of my card and used enamel glitter dots on the scalloped edge for some additional interest.
I used the “Simply Friend” die cut as well as the new “We Stand With You” stamp set from The Stamping Village to create my sentiment.
I used a clear embossing powder on my die cut with this minty paper card stock, and stamped the additional sentiment onto a piece of vellum using the same minty color.
This has been a fun inspiration challenge, and I enjoyed going outside my own comfort zone a bit. These are definitely not colors I would normally be drawn to, but I loved the challenge.
I am also using this post for the Festive Friday Challenge #FF0064
I chose pink, brown, circles and die cut for this challenge, and I’m glad this card worked out for both challenges!
Thanks for stopping by today!
